Umut Eser, PhD is the Head of Generative AI at Johnson & Johnson, where he is responsible for strategy and scaling the GenAI portfolio across R&D. His work focuses on building agentic AI platforms, scientific reasoning engines, and high‑impact AI applications that embed directly into scientific, clinical, and decision‑making workflows, with a strong emphasis on evaluation, quality, and real‑world impact. Umut earned his PhD in Applied Physics from Stanford University and completed postdoctoral training in Genetics at Harvard Medical School. He has held senior leadership and hands‑on roles across the biotech and AI ecosystem, including Quantum‑Si (4Catalyzer), Head of Machine Learning Research at Cellarity (Flagship Pioneering), and Chief Innovation Officer at Doctor Evidence. He co‑founded Weave Bio and served as Chief AI Officer.
