Kay Nandwani is the Head of AI Retrieval at Bloomberg, bringing over 15 years of experience in architecting large-scale AI infrastructure and distributed systems. He currently directs the engineering strategy for the retrieval infrastructure that powers the Bloomberg Terminal, serving 350,000+ institutional finance professionals. In this role, Kay leads the development of the enterprise RAG engine, ensuring AI-generated answers are strictly grounded across hundreds of millions of documents, including research from 800+ providers, over a million daily news stories, and real-time web content. His work focuses on transforming massive-scale unstructured data into actionable signals while maintaining the strict latency and reliability standards demanded by global financial markets. Prior to Bloomberg, Kay was the Head of AI for Search Ads at Amazon, where he directed the machine learning and retrieval strategy for a multi-billion-dollar performance ads business across 20 marketplaces. Before Amazon, he served as a Group Product Lead for Microsoft's global package management infrastructure (NuGet.org) utilized by over 10 million developers daily, delivering productivity and system reliability improvements through AI-driven search enhancements, latency reduction, and software supply chain hardening. Kay holds an MS in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management.
